How To Decant Red Wine
Make your plonk clearer, tastier, better
If you're going to part with your hard earned pay for decent bottle of red, then you want to get the best from it - and the way to do that is decant it. If you don't, it's like buying an Aston Martin and fitting it with pram wheels.
Good red wine is very often unfiltered, which means that if you hurl it straight from the bottle to the glass, you're going to be doing that 'smacking your lips and searching round your mouth with your tongue because you've got something unpleasant in your mouth' face. This will be followed immediately by an ungainly spitting out of sediment. And it's a particularly bad experience if you're the poor mug who gets the last glass from the bottle.
